Abstract: This paper presents a dual buoy wave energy device composed of a big boat buoy and a small gyro-shape buoy, focusing on an analysis of the gyro-shape buoy using numerical simulation method. A simulation model was developed to calculate the stress and deformation of gyro-shape buoys with different tip radii under water flows in horizontal and vertical directions, and the adaptability of the buoys to waves and their power and efficiency characteristics were analyzed. Using the simulations, we optimized the key scale parameters that control the stress and deformation of the buoys. The results indicate that the gyro-shape buoy is applicable to testing platform for wave energy capture.
