Study on the Abrasion Resistance of Repaired Concrete and Its Evaluation Method Based on Improved Grey Relational Analysis

Abstract: To determine the wear resistance of the patched concrete pier under sand-carrying action on a river in upper reaches of Huanghe, namely Taohe River.abrasion test was carried out with the homemade rotation device and four kinds of samples - intact, damaged-unrepaired,epoxy mortar-repaired, and polyurethane mortar-repaired concrete— were tested and the damage evolution was characterized through 3D surface topography scanning. These results suggest that the repair material is able to improve the abrasion resistance of the damaged concrete and that the polyurethane mortar has a better performance than the epoxy mortar; in particular:under a sand-to-stone ratio of 1:3 and 2100 rpm, compared with the damaged unrepaired concrete, the concrete repaired with polyurethane mortar exhibited a 51.4% reduction in mass loss rate, repairing layer could inhibit the transformation of surface micro-crack to local deep pit;at 1600 rpm, reducing the maximum valley depth by 46.0% compared with the unrepaired specimen. The generalized grey relational degree combined with the entropy weight method, identifies the priority of factors influencing mass loss as: sand-to-stone ratio > flow velocity > abrasion duration. These findings provide a theoretical basis for the performance evaluation and maintenance of bridge piers in sediment-rich environments.
