Feasibility analysis on low-heat cement concrete arch dam without transverse joints

Abstract: Transverse joints in arch dam construction can seriously affect the safety, efficiency, and economy of the projects. Although the use of low-heat cement concrete can effectively reduce the temperature stress of the dam body and provide a basis for arch dams without transverse joints, directly using traditional temperature control methods has a great risk of cracking in the case of arch dams without transverse joints. In order to realize the goal of low-heat cement concrete arch dams without transverse joints, this paper constructs a temperature stress surrogate model for low-heat cement concrete arch dams without transverse joints, studies the calculation method of failure strength under temperature stress, analyzes strength reduction, and proposes an intelligent temperature control method for low-heat cement concrete arch dams without transverse joints. The analysis shows that this method takes into full consideration of the strength reduction caused by the creep effect, realizes the goal of “eliminating transverse joints in arch dams, ensuring structural safety, improving construction efficiency”, and determines the feasibility of low-heat cement concrete arch dams without transverse joints.
